HELLO THERE!
I’m Ben. I’ve been capturing images since 2009 and have a long history of being creative which led me into a successful 13 year career as a Graphic Designer and later as a Creative Video Editor for Games Workshop in Nottingham.
I have a creative background which led me into a successful 13 year career as a Graphic Designer and later as a Creative Video Editor for Games Workshop in Lenton, Nottingham.
Born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, I grew up in the Southwell/Newark area enjoying outdoor life spending time either with friends or on my Grandparent's land exploring the fields, orchards and tumble down barns in Yorkshire - often deep in my own thoughts.
I have always been building or making things so it was only natural that when we got our first home computer I took to using it for creative activities like a duck to water which led me down a Graphic Design route.
After attending the Manchester College of Arts and Technology I ended up picking up my first DSLR camera in order to create my own graphics but quickly realised I enjoyed taking photos more than I enjoyed graphic design.
In 2021 my Wife and I bought our first home here in Newark.
Summer 1982. Taking a bath at our home in Thorne, South Yorkshire. I was born on June 18th so it's around late June/July and judging by what my dad was wearing it looks like it's at least above 12°C - so a balmy summers day in Yorkshire then!
In 2025 I was made redundant, however, I had always dreamt of running my own photography business so I decided it was either now or never and have recently taken up residence in a studio on Friary Lane, here in Newark on Trent.
• I didn’t have access to a home computer until I was 17 - well after I’d left school.
• When I left school I found myself through the music I listened to (Heavy Metal and NuMetal 🤘🏻).
• My wife is from South Africa and she’s awesome - not just because we braai every time the sun comes out!
• We eloped to Canada. We were married and exchanged vows by the side of a lake surrounded by snow capped mountains.
• Vancouver is my favourite city in the world.
• I’m a huge Star Wars fan.
• I’m a huge blink-182 fan.
• I was once on MTV in the US when I met the band +44 at their album premier in New York.
• I made a tv advert for a Warhammer Magazine that was shown on national tv here in England as well as Australia and other countries in Europe.
• I got into taking photos at a young age when I was bought a small point and shoot film camera.
• My interest in photography was rekindled when I was given my grandads old Zenit film SLR.
• I bought my first DSLR to help with my graphic design work when I was in my early 20s.
• I got into graphic design when I left school because of my love for movie special effects and that was when I discovered photoshop.
• I loved movie special effects when I was young because I loved how they filmed miniatures along side different practical effects.
